Southern Seasons and the launch bay — how we build toward go-live
Southern Seasons is a brand site currently in development at Porch Light Desk. This post is honest about that status — not a fake “live now” claim — and explains how the launch bay works for packs that are built before a domain points.

What the launch bay is
Some projects ship to a public domain on week one. Others finish as complete site packs — HTML, assets, config — waiting on DNS, branding finalization, or owner timing. Against the Grain sits in that bay: build complete, domain not pointed. Sparkling Haven moved through the bay and is now live at sparklinghaventn.com. Southern Seasons is earlier: actively in development.
The bay exists so launch is a technical moment, not a redesign moment. When the owner is ready, we point and ship instead of starting from zero under calendar panic.

Why honesty beats fake portfolio inflation
Plenty of studios blur “concept” and “live.” We label launch bay and in-development work clearly. Clients comparing desks can trust the live four: Death Row, Eskimo Brothers, Graphix Garage, Toasted Tans. The bay shows momentum without cosplay.
What this means if you hire us mid-busy-season

What “in development” means day to day
Southern Seasons is actively designed and written at the desk. Sections move from outline to layout to revision. It is not a secret live site. When it is ready for public DNS, the Work page tag will change. Until then, treat screenshots as progress, not a claim of production traffic.
Launch bay siblings

Those two show the end state of bay work. Southern Seasons shows the middle. Together they explain how Porch Light Desk manages pipeline without inflating “live” counts.
Owner timing is part of craft
Sometimes branding legal review lags. Sometimes photography lags. Sometimes an owner wants to finish busy season before cutting over. Building into the bay respects that without pausing craft for months of silence.
How you can use this model
If you need a new site but cannot point the domain this month, say so in intake. We can stage a complete pack, invoice on agreed milestones, and launch when you flip DNS. 50/50 still maps cleanly: deposit to build, completion when the agreed deliverable is live or handed over ready.
